A Marion man was arrested Friday and charged with invasion of privacy after police said he took nude pictures of student athletes in a Cornell College locker room. Jeffrey Pospisil, 45, is accused of entering the women's locker room at the Small Multi-Sport Center at Cornell College and taking cellphone photos and video of female student-athletes in January.
The investigation began when student-athletes reported seeing a cellphone being held in an open doorway leading to their locker room. The phone was pointed in their direction as they were dressing for practice. The athletes alerted a coach who found Pospisil in the immediate vicinity.
Pospisil claimed he had only rested his phone against the wall to text and was not using it to record. Investigators obtained a search warrant for the phone and, during a forensic examination, discovered more than photographs had been taken of the locker room when it was being used by females in a state of full or partial nudity.
Cornell College said in a release that Pospisil was a contracted custodial employee and not a part of the college faculty or staff. He was terminated from employment, removed from campus, and banned from coming onto Cornell property. Investigators were able to identify all people depicted in the images and videos. Investigators and college staff have met with the affected students, advising them of the investigation and ensuring that any needs or concerns they have would be addressed. Cornell College said it will continue to provide ongoing support services to the impacted students.
